DOG DAYS

FAQs
How do I get started?
GROUP HIKES:
Before joining our Group Hikes, we start with a free meet and greet at your home.
From there, we’ll schedule a 30-minute trial walk on another day with one compatible dog. This gives us a chance to get to know your dog, assess their leash and social skills, and make sure they’re comfortable before joining one of our groups.
DAYCARE:
For new daycare dogs, we recommend starting with a half-day trial.
For the trial day, you’ll drop your dog off and pick them up so our team can get to know them, introduce them to the group, and make sure daycare is a good fit. If your dog seems uncomfortable or daycare isn’t the right environment for them, we’ll give you a call for an early pickup. We may also recommend another Goldie Hound service that better suits their personality and needs.
Do you offer private walks?
At this time, we do not offer private walks. Goldie Hound focuses on group activities, exercise, enrichment, and socialization.
What is the service minimum?
Our regular services require a commitment of at least 1–2 days per week. Daycare is based on availability.
What areas do you service?
We currently service Kitchener, Waterloo, St. Jacobs, and surrounding areas.
What are your training principles?
At Goldie Hound, we recognize that every dog is different. Each dog has their own personality, comfort level, and needs when participating in group activities.
We use a variety of appropriate training tools and handling techniques while prioritizing positive reinforcement, safety, clear communication, and calm group behaviour.
Our goal is to create a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience for every dog in our care while respecting their individual needs.
What are your booking requirements?
Regular Group Hike clients require a minimum of one scheduled day per week. Additional hikes can be booked based on availability.
Group Hikes operate within two transportation windows:
-
Morning: 9AM–12PM
-
Afternoon: 12PM–3PM
Your dog's pickup, hike, and drop-off will take place within their scheduled window.
How many dogs are in a Group Hike?
We hike with a maximum of 6 dogs per group. Groups are carefully organized based on location, personality, energy level, and dog compatibility.
Do you provide daycare?
Yes! Our doggy daycare, The Clubhouse by Goldie Hound, is located at: 2517 Fischer-Hallman Road, Ayr, ON
The Clubhouse features both an indoor daycare space and a spacious private outdoor dog park, giving dogs opportunities for play, exercise, enrichment, socialization, and downtime throughout their day.
How does the daycare trial work?
We recommend that all new daycare dogs begin with a half-day trial.
For their first visit, owners are responsible for dropping off and picking up their dog. This allows our team to introduce your dog gradually, observe how they interact with the group, and determine whether our daycare environment is a good fit for them.
If your dog is having difficulty settling in or we feel daycare isn't the right environment for them, we'll contact you for an early pickup.
Not every dog loves daycare and that's okay! We may recommend one of our other services, such as Group Hikes, where your dog may be more comfortable.
Do you offer transportation for daycare and Group Hikes?
Yes! Transportation is included with our Group Hike services, and we also offer daycare with transportation.
For daycare clients who prefer to drop off and pick up their dog themselves, we offer a discounted daycare rate with designated drop-off and pickup times at The Clubhouse.
Do you offer Double Pack Hikes?
Yes! Double Pack Hikes are available for our regular clients.
Dogs enjoy two group adventures between 9AM and 3PM, making this a great option for dogs who love extra exercise, outdoor time, and socialization.
Do you offer weekend or holiday services?
Weekend and holiday bookings are available based on availability.
A $5 additional service fee applies to weekend appointments and a $10 additional service fee applies to appointments on holidays.
Services are paused on statutory holidays.
Do you offer boarding?
Yes. Boarding is available for regular Goldie Hound clients and is based on availability.
What is your weather policy?
Safety always comes first.
In unsafe or extreme weather conditions, services may be modified or cancelled. We use local weather conditions and City of Waterloo/area school cancellation guidelines to help determine when conditions are unsafe for transportation or outdoor activities.
What gear does my dog need?
Dogs participating in our Group Hikes should have:
-
A properly fitted martingale collar
-
A properly fitted harness
During your meet & greet, we'll let you know if any adjustments or additional equipment are recommended for your dog.
Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?
Dogs participating in Daycare and Pack Play must be spayed or neutered.
Dogs do not need to be spayed or neutered to participate in our Group Hikes. We welcome unfixed dogs into our group walking program as long as they are a good fit for the group and meet our regular behaviour and compatibility requirements.
This gives younger dogs and dogs who remain intact an opportunity to enjoy structured exercise and socialization even if they aren't eligible for Daycare or Pack Play.
